Santa Luzia is Cape Verde's uninhabited island – a strictly protected nature reserve between São Vicente and São Nicolau. White dunes, deserted beaches and a stark, almost mystical landscape make it a day-trip destination as pristine as it gets: there are no roads, no houses, no accommodation – just sea, wind and silence.

Santa Luzia is visited by boat tour from São Vicente (usually from Calhau), often combined with fishing, snorkelling and a beach picnic. As overnight stays on the island are not possible, the best base is the neighbouring island: in Mindelo and Calhau on São Vicente you'll find holiday rentals from which the trip to Santa Luzia is easy to arrange – ask your host, many know the boat skippers personally.
